Favorite CrossFit Movement: Muscle-up or handstand walk or thrusters
My CrossFit Story: I have been an athlete my entire life; a three sport athlete growing up to playing softball in college at UW-Eau Claire where I was named an All-American my last three years of competition. After my four years was over, I tried working out on my own at at typical gym. With a degree in Kinesiology I had some idea of how to resistance train and put together a workout; however, I never felt fully satisfied when leaving the gym. I wanted more.
I started Crossfit in January 2017, after attending my first Crossfit class in Ecuador with my sister the November prior, and my world was changed! I quickly excelled at some things (squatting, rowing, mostly barbell things) and found that I was not quite as strong in the “gymnasty” (pull-ups, toes-to-bar, etc.) portion that is Crossfit. I started reading, subscribing to journals, learning about form, doing drills, and making my body do things I never would have imagined possible.
During my college softball career, I thought I was in the best shape of my life and about as good of an athlete as I could get…boy was I wrong. I am now a better ALL AROUND athlete than I have ever been and am so thankful to have found another sport that fuels my passion for fitness, competition, and an overall healthy lifestyle.
I love the people, the intensity, and the fact that no matter where you are at in your health and fitness journey, Crossfit IS for you. You’re competing against no one other than the person you were yesterday! Coaching gives me the ability to give back to the sport and community that has given so much to me. Seeing the look on people’s faces when they reach a goal they’ve been working their butt off for is what gets me through the day! The CFM community is second-to-none…I promise you, you’ll come for the Crossfit and you’ll stay for the people (and the Crossfit)! 😉
